The Farwell Kings have been a cicada of sorts on the Milwaukee Music scene – hibernating for periods of time just to come storming out to remind the world of their presence. Eccentric Acoustic is also part of the local Milwaukee super-group ‘Acoustic Anarchy’. They have organized and played in numerous benefit concerts for local non-profit groups. She has played for years with the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra and sings with the Bel Canto Chorus.Įccentric Acoustic has played together in the Milwaukee area for about eight years, most frequently at the Riverwest Filling Station and Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. Ruth Williams learned to sing harmony with her sister while doing dishes in the family home. Sandy Stehling is a versatile guitarist who started with American folk music, studied classical guitar for a number of years, and along the way developed a taste for country blues, ragtime, and jazz. Scott Emmons is the retired dean of the Peck School of the Arts at UWM, a multi-instrumentalist with a life-time of experience performing and teaching music. Their arrangements include mellifluous harmonies and hot licks. Their wide-ranging repertoire includes tunes from the swing era, country blues, contemporary folk and country music. They’ve played together since about 2014, and have also been part of the Acoustic Anarchy supergroup since about 2016.Įccentric Acoustic consists of Scott Emmons on bass,Sandy Stehling on guitar and Ruth Williams on mandolin. They share a passion for music with history, great harmonies, and evocative lyrics. Paul and Andy come from very different musical backgrounds, Andy mainly from traditional music and the 90s and Paul focused on folk rock, Beatles, and 1967 American psychedelica. Both are multi-instrumentalists, incorporating guitar, dobro, bass, keyboards and ukulele into their music.
